What's a litmus-paper and universal-indicator?

Litmus Paper: A paper that changes color according to the acidity of a solution is called a litmus paper. If a solution is acidic then the blue litmus paper would turn to (red) color. . If a solution is a basic or alkaline, then the red litmus paper would turn to a blue color.

. A blue litmus paper would remain blue in a basic solution and a red litmus paper would remain red in acidic solution. Color of the litmus paper, either blue or red would remain same in a neutral solution.



Universal Indicator: Universal Indicator is a liquid which changes color according to the acidity of a solution.

It’s original color is “green". . If a solution is acidic then the universal indicator would turn to red from green. . If the solution is basic or alkaline then the green universal indicator would turn to a purple color. . If the solution is neutral than the color of the universal indicator would remain green.
