What is a neutralization reaction?

Updated: Jun 12, 2023

A Neutralization Reaction is a reaction in which an alkali cancels the effect of an acid. . . .When both, acid and alkali are present in the same amount in a reaction, they cancel out each others effect and neutralizes the solution. Hence a neutral solution is formed.

.An example of a neutralization reaction is: Sodium Hydroxide(alkali)+ Sulfuric acid → Sodium Sulfate (salt)+ water

*In a neutralization reaction the products formed are always salt and water.
